‘Most Pakistani want legislation to be influenced by Quran: Survey.’ So goes a back page headline in Dawn today, 28 April 2016. It goes on to say that a report issued by Pew Research Centre confirms that there are 78 percent of us 200 million who want it that way. To me this confirms, yet again, that we Pakistanis are the most hypocritical, two-faced, double-dealing bunch of liars and crooks.
And before I go on, let me reiterate what I have long maintained: Religion is the first refuge of the scoundrel.
For starters, why does every scoundrel want a religious law to guide his/her life? Doesn’t every bastard among us know or at least pretend to know what religion ordains? Is it largely not known that to steal, kill, be discourteous and generally be a bloody nuisance is not right and therefore, since Islam is a way of life, anti-Islam? Why does every blackguard want a law to keep him/her from skimming off billions of tax payers’ money and that which foreign financial institutions bestow upon our beggar state as aid? And why does this same rogue of insatiable lust for lucre need a Quranic law to keep him from stashing his ill-gained riches in an off-shore bank is a distant land?
All these cuss-worthy villains harp endlessly upon the need for Islamic laws. These douche bags are the very ones who have themselves photographed in their seamless white shrouds doing the rounds in Mecca – at tax payers’ expense too. One look at the manufactured looks on their ugly faces and I am ready to puke: that despicable, meticulously crafted look of faux piety so revolts the senses of every higher being. But these unworthies whose conception surely was the work of demons from the deepest darkness of Hades wear these false faces with practiced ease. And of course images of them on the prayer rug, hands raised in orison, are a dime a dozen.
All these slime balls practice sham religion with the same facility they employ in raping this Land of the Pure(Shit). These detestable sharpers have no shame when it comes to showing off their execution of religious rites or when they are plundering the country’s exchequer. I ask you how can they not know they are doing wrong every waking moment of their lives.
They know and they don’t give a fig. They don’t give a fig because they know they will always walk free. As indeed they will now after the Panama Papers have leaked sewage.
And all these scumbags want laws to be governed by the Quran. They and everyone of us they rule in this blighted, diseased country knows that there will never be any enforcement of law. Neither a Quranic law nor any other worldly law. As indeed there never has been any enforcement for the past sixty years.
The law will only add another stripe to the religion all these bastards wear on their sleeves. They think it will make this sick society appear more religious. How revolting can that be!
But make no mistake; it is not only the ruling class that is unabashedly hypocritical. Everyone else is too, regardless of class. We are, across the board, dishonest and thieving. The man who pushes the gol-guppa barrow, the labourer who hauls bricks on a searing summer day, the taxi driver, the barber in the air-conditioned salon or on the street, your fruit-seller and the motor mechanic is a crook. One is hard put to find the rare decent human being. Hard put because in this land of 200 million rotten souls the good ones perhaps number a few thousand. These good human beings do not matter and they do not need to trot out Islam at the drop of every Panama Leak, oops sorry, Panama hat.
But everyone else wants laws to be influenced by their holy book which nowadays is mostly used to swear upon before bearing false testimony. None of these despicable bastards will want to impose Quranic laws upon themselves to make for a better society. No sir. They want the constitution and the law of the land to be Quranic which they know no one will ever enforce.
What a bloody sham.

A valid point Sire, the enactment of laws empower the Mullahs to have their own version of the religion recognized legally. This brings in the possibility of even having a new thing inserted in the original fabric of Islam. The Blasphemy Law is such an example..... Moazzam Salim

They are the so called custodian of religious products for open sale at their shops..This is their priced products which we can buy but dare not to question the quality or parameters of its domain....I can feel the invisible tears of your heart which for sure will be in red, but don't you think it is the need of the century to evaporate the influence of these shopkeepers by introducing or inducting men of fresh blood to look deeper into our Holy Scripture thus enabling them to challenge the dens of religious mafia.....To prepare this new enlightened class, we need at least a decade, through first class researched based learning and then launching them accordingly..hopefully they will not prove themselves to be jainaissaries of Ottomans in the long run

Thank you, Mehreen. We did have fresh thinking in the shape of Javed Ghamidi. He was hounded out of Pakistan under threat. We have my dear friend Maulvi Jahangir Mahmood who, sadly, is threatened. The religious mafia is very strong and only a determined government can destroy this pestilence.

But for the masses to be sold opiate they need to be willing to buy Opium.....we know well that mullah is having a field day because that is what the people want. I see it overseas too....People will go to the Sheikh of their liking to listen to the music they prefer. So to blame the Mullah for doing his job is unfair....
