If there was ever a lonely place I had been to, it was the country on the south side of the Aghil Pass. The Shaksgam Valley here is as desolate as it can ever get. Our caravan is approaching the Kindik Tash camp ground.

Wish I were there too on one of Bactrians...
ReplyDeleteThe Shaksgam River Valley is the most overpoweringly desolate and wild place on earth.
ReplyDeleteBest picture so far. Clouds on the sky, so close, moving in the same pace as the caravan, shadows on the rock following and the echoing desolation that you describe-Yallah!!!!! This picture just sucked me in. How amazing it would have been to walk on that rock, bare feet, trying to catch the shadows....
ReplyDeleteI had to struggle to get back to my sunday which is filled with anxiety of bloody monday....and of course the angry scratching of my cat at the window....
It seems like I have to buy your book. But if, after reading it, I find out that its not safe for women to travel alone to these destination, I´m gonna find you, not for the refund-no, but to hit you hard with the book for being a man, hit you till you drop dead!
Anonymous! This is the best compliment I have received. Trust me, the Shaksgam Valley is safe for women, children, men, animals. Everyone!
ReplyDeleteTake me there.......!!!.......meher
